I’ve been trying to stop smoking for years and years. I’ve tried Cold Turkey, acupuncture, hypnosis (both one-on-one and in groups), The Patch, The Gum, the Nicotrol Inhaler, overeating and many therapy sessions. Maybe writing about it will help. It’s serious now; I almost died of a heart attack in March ’09 and don’t want that to happen again.
If you by chance wander in here and have successfully quit or are trying to quit, I welcome your comments. Just no lectures, please. I know all the reasons for not smoking already.

After being a heavy smoker for 11 years (3 packs a day at one point! Rarely less than a pack a day otherwise), I was able to quit fifteen years ago. The thing that helped me most was a quote by Celeste Holm, the actress, which talked about whether or not you have the cigarette, the braving goes away. She was right!
Whoops! I meant to say the CRAVING goes away. BEST of luck to you – I’m praying for your success!
Wow! Thank you sooooo much for your encouragement! I think I need the “braving” to fight the craving! Still working on it.
